JEREMY L. VANDEHEY

Jeremy L. Vandehey was admitted to practice law in Arizona in 2008.  Since his admission, he has worked on civil and family law litigation matters and has participated in family law trials, hearings, and settlement conferences.  Before moving to Arizona, Mr. Vandehey practiced and was a public defender in Minnesota, where in addition to criminal law, he represented parents and children in juvenile and child protection matters.  Mr. Vandehey has experience in plea negotiations with county and city prosecutors in all level of criminal matters as well as jury trial experience.  In his juvenile and child protection work, Mr. Vandehey worked closely with guardians ad litem and social workers in cases involving the best interests of children.

Mr. Vandehey graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2007.  While in law school he was a member of the school's pro bono law clinic for two years, where he worked with underserved communities in matters involving immigration, debtor-creditor, First Amendment, unemployment insurance, workers' compensation, and employment law.

Mr. Vandehey is originally from the Portland, Oregon area.  He received his a bachelor of science degree in public policy and administration from Western Oregon University in 2003.  He worked for two legislative sessions as in aide in the Oregon legislature, where he worked with constituents, state agencies, lobbyists and political action groups to gather support for proposed legislation.  He also worked as a volunteer coordinator for a health care non-profit, where he was responsible for organizing volunteer support to promote the organization's goals.

His unique experiences before law school and while practicing law have given Mr. Vandehey a wide range of negotiation experience.  While working in family law, Mr. Vandehey has seen the emotional hardship that family law litigation causes parents and children.  He strongly believes in using mediation to resolve family law conflicts.
